• Focus will be on the Spanish Association Against Cancer during event week
  • Once again, women’s golf is doing its utmost to support the fight against cancer
  • Spectators at La Reserva Club de Sotogrande will play an essential role

Women’s golf will once again be putting its support behind the fight against cancer during the Ladies European Tour’s La Reserva de Sotogrande Invitational. The inaugural event, which takes place from the 16th to 19th of May at La Reserva Club de Sotogrande, will be supported by the Marbella headquarters of the Spanish Association Against Cancer (AECC), a non-profit state-level organisation that spearheads the Spanish society’s effort to reduce the impact caused by cancer.

The AECC, which is committed to supporting cancer patients and their families, and focused on promoting cancer research in Spain, will receive the money collected by various fundraising initiatives taking place during the tournament. Furthermore, the colour pink, which symbolizes the fight against breast cancer, will feature prominently at La Reserva de Sotogrande during the event.

A number of fundraising initiatives will take place, including a welcome party that will feature a raffle with all proceeds going to the AECC.

The following day, the Association once again take a starring role during the Pro-Am as amateur players will have the opportunity to donate to the AECC in exchange for a polo shirt and cap given to them before the start of the event. During the round they will have the chance to make another voluntary contribution while testing their ability in five special competitions (four closest to the pin on the par-3s and a longest drive contest). There will be a selection of great prizes and a gift will be given to all the players that hit the green on these contests (or the fairway in the longest drive competition). The Pro-Am will also become the AECC party, and attendees will enjoy gourmet stands every four holes where volunteers from the association will provide information on the work of the organisation while they are enjoying a delicious choice of refreshments.

In addition to enjoying the game of the best Ladies European Tour golfers, the spectators can also collaborate easily with the AECC. All attendees must sign up first on the tournament website (https://www.lareservadesotograndeinvitational.com/) and acquire an electronic ticket (€ 10 for a daily pass / € 20 for a weekly pass), but they will get back that amount as soon as they make a purchase at the club store. Moreover, 30% of the total amount spent in the store will go directly to the AECC, as well as part of the money spent on the golf club restaurant services.

Options are diverse, but there is only one goal: to help the AECC, an association that has worked on 334 research projects related to cancer in different stages, from prevention to metastasis, in which they have spent 56 million euros since 2011.

The La Reserva de Sotogrande Invitational is sponsored by Sotogrande SA, its owning entity and the founding entity of Sotogrande, and organized by Deporte & Business and the Ladies European Tour. The event will be broadcasted around the world and the Spanish audience will enjoy it live through Movistar Golf, Teledeporte and Andalucía TV.

Fans can also follow every update on the tournament website and the various social media platforms: Twitter (@lareservagolf), Facebook (La Reserva Sotogrande) and Instagram (@lareservasotogrande).
